Significance of prostate problems

The prostate is a glandular organ muscular reproductive tract, which is located below the bladder surrounding the urethra and near the rectum.


The urethra has two functions, the transport of urine from the bladder, and the conduct of semen during ejaculation. Semen consists of sperm and fluid from the prostate.

 

Prostate problems usually occur after age 50. In men over 50, the most common problem is prostate enlargement, or benign prostatic hyperplasia.

At older ages, also has prostate cancer incidence, but much smaller number of cases.
